Update by the Prez:
Another great race day for the BKC. The weather looked a bit ominous in the morning as we drove to Lafayette NY and Cherry Valley speedway. A few sprinkles in the morning could not dampen the enthusisam to get on the track. The track dried and the racing was hot as the CV circuit is challanging with its long straight leading into a very tight hairpin. I'd like to thank everyone who made the trek and made the race day special. The folks who run the track were impressed with our machinery and drivers and cannot wait to host us again. I am puzzled by some members and pass members who have quality equipment but prefer to look at it in the garage. We are running a shorter season and the race day fees have been lower this season than previous years. The switch to Burris tires has been a plus with lower cost and excellent wear. This year all our drivers will become much better behind the wheel because of the different venues we race on. Lets dig out the kart and check it out and go kart racin. Hope to see you at the track. Congradulation to the winners, Payton, Taylor, Nick and the cheater Jim Simpson. Rick bad luck Hoyt installed a new and very expensive connecting rod in his engine between heats to make the feature. Nice job rick!

Update By Jim Pelletterie,
NOW THATS RACIN! We conqured Bliss on a beautiful day and even a nicer night as the Batavia Kart Club put on a driving clinic for all the little Dale Earnhearts who think you need to drive thru your competition. Joe Barber and his lovely wife Madonna welcomed us with reduced race fees and a two dollar chicken dinner. I forgot to thank Payton's Mom for the beautifully decorated and delicious cupcakes for dessert. We ran a heat race and then a twenty lap feature. The WF lite feature was the most exciting as lauren and taylor tangled a few times as Nick was up front but yellow flags bunched them back up as they lined up shootout style. Lauren got a jump on Nick as they battled lap after lap with Taylor sticking her nose in there. Nick was on a mission as the white lap waved and made a move in corner four that produced a drag race to the line. Lauren held Nick off by inches for her first win in WF with Taylor a close third. Jessie was on rails and drove away from the pack as I ran second for the first part of the race with Mike Polizzi and Craig Drabek within inches of my bumper. My kart was loose all night and Mike put on a nice move to get by with craig breathing down my neck. a few laps later Craig drove by and I finished a respectable fourth. Rick Hoyt finished the feature with severly bruised ribs and he will pay in pain for the honor. Payton won the Jr 1 feature with a smiling Riley Mckie chasing him. An excellent race night with great racing and dinner to boot. Next stop Cherry Valley. Jim

Here are the Burris sprint tire set up instructions & suggestions.
- Proper mounting and balancing is critical to the performance and consistency of your tires. We recommend viewing the Burris Racing Tech Shop detailed mounting recommendations.
- Set the initial running pressures at 12-14 psi in the front and 14-16 psi for the rears.
- It is our opinion that scuffing the tires is a good practice. The first time out on new tires you should run the kart at 80 to 90% speed for about 8 to 10 laps but don’t let it slide or get loose. When you come in, reset your pressures, check your stagger and let the tires cool. This heat cycle lets the diameters stabilize and the compound to finish curing.
- Typically when our tires are mounted on a kart that has run Bridgestone’s the balance can be a little biased to the rear so you may have to increase the nose weight by 1-2% to keep the kart from getting tight. You may also want to experiment with positive camber to get even wear across the tread surface. We have also found that in certain situations our tire respond better (with the higher tire pressures) if the rear track is narrowed up 1” to 2”.
- Once the minor adjustments are made to suit our tires they have good wear and performance and are very consistent.
