I just finished the article and it was well worth the read. It was pretty cool that they mentioned Batavia. The article stated the race was held in 1991. Does anyone know who was running the track then? Were any of our current members at this race?

Blast from the Past

Yes I was there, I remember Sarah she was running 2 cycle Junior at that time.
The track was owned by Jane Kelly, her husband Tom (the real man behind Batavia Kart track)had passed away a year or two earlier. Tom had bought the track 1964/1965 and expanded it over a 3 year period to the layout it is today. The 1968 IKF Grand Nationals were run on the current track layout.

I was there! Stock medium track champion '91

By the way. There are not enough kind words to describe Tom Kelly and what he meant to those of us getting into karting during his time at the track. They actually lived at the track in a motor home on the site where the garages are now. This was back in the day when you showed up for practice during the week and would ask Tom, "How much is a practice pass"

Tom's answer: "Your not going to sue are ya kid? go have fun!"
