We, at GVKC, are very well aware of the box stock rules and I for one applaud them. I would like it if we switched our Sealed Animal class to box stock because it would be cheaper.
I probably mentioned this like 50 times but I can get a box stock WF from Jimbo at faster motors that comes with clutch, two driver gears, fuel pump, pipe, heat disperser, air filer, muffler, pull and electric start for $990. All I need to buy extra is a throttle kit, header wrap, chain guard and exhaust brackets. Maybe another $70~80.
The sealed engines we run at Avon go for $1000 new and you have to buy an exhaust brace and header wrap for that so that runs you another $30.
I'd much rather run an engine with more power and a better clutch and pay the extra $40 or so to do it.
Also the tires we run are a bit more expensive that the burris 55's. They have a lot more grip and typically go about 6 to 8 race/practice days. I don't know that the burris tires last much longer but they are cheap and it seems they even out the chassis'.
You might notice I left out shipping... well we have to pay tax on that $1000 Sealed animal so it works out to be about be CHEAPER to get an engine shipped from Wisconsin than to pay tax in NY
