How popular are the BKC Shifter Combined and/or the TaG classes?

I'd love to compete with a CR125 shifter... but i'm not sure where to start.

I'd love some advice?

Thanks!!

WE have a few shifters that compete but not on a regular basis. it would seem you would need to contact the other shifter drivers and get a game plan. We are working on bolstering out tag program. We have looked at the bump that is a concern for other tag drivers. We are working on getting the bump shaved a bit.

Sorry, I meant to post on this earlier. There are only two of us that run the shifters on Sundays. There are others that will practice on Saturdays but for reasons unknown to me they don't come out to play on Sundays. It would be nice to get More out there.

The TAG karts with the weights should be able to keep up with the shifters at Batavia. It is a great track do drive but the shifters like a little more room, therefore the TAG not having to shift picks up some time.

As for the infamous bump on the straight...take your right foot off the throttle...problem solved

Look forward to running with you.

That "bump" dissappearing would be nice!! i know i get good air time in my cr125 shifter when going over it!

I'm one of those saturday only shifter guys, i dont know other peoples reasons why they only come on saturday but i can tell you some of my reasons.

1: cost, cheaper to run on saturdays. plus i run my tires till they are pretty much shot, to be competitive against other shifters or TAG karts i would have to spend a lot more on tires and maintanence to have any chance of keeping up!

2: time, can get many more laps in a shorter period of time on a saturday. i dont have enough free time to spend a good portion of a sunday at the track. i can go down on a saturday and stay maybe 3 hours and get a good amount of laps in and still be back home to get the other things done i need to do.

3: kart racing isnt my main "motorsport", my main racing is i drag race a 8.20 second motorcycle, that pretty much sucks up a lot of my time and $$$. the kart is just a hobby to me. when my son gets a little older than i will most likely be spending more time at the kart track with him.

Well I can't argue on the time issues, but we run 1-2 year old whatever we have fore tires.we're only running 32.5-33.5 sec range. It's more for fun than seriose. We get from 10-20 practice laps in + the 40 race laps.As for the money the extra helps towards the year end banquet.

yeah, i run used tires on mine!!! i run in the mid 34's. of course i dont really put the time on the track that would be needed to get that low of a lap time, and i really need to get my brakes sorted out better. i keep messing with the shims and i either end up with too much shim and end up with brake drag once they warm up, or too little shim and cant get enough braking power.... I'm gonna have to bring some of the shims in to work and grind them down so i can get this thing to stop the way it should. heck i havent even fired my kart up yet, its still loaded with fogging oil and covered!!!
