In 1986 The city of batavia held a kart street race. I raced that day and the crowd was huge. It was promoted by Tom Kelly and a Mr Beers. Sorry I cannot remember his first name. At the time I was not involved with the track setup or any other part except as a racer. I know it was a monumental task but it was very cool. I don't know if it was a financial sucess. I have the program from that day but I need to dig it out, very cool!
