So I've got the kart... Now what? 4 Years, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
I've finally made the decision to move into WF for next season, and I've purchased a kart. Now what? Seriously though I've got more than a few questions:

  1. What days can I come out and practice?

  2. Do I have to join the club for this season, seeing as there's so little time left?

  3. Anyone have any suggestions on where to find a trailer for the kart?

  4. What tools or other items do I need? I figure I need a bead breaker, tire pressure gauge, and air pump of some kind. Any other specialty tools? What about a kart stand?

Thanks guys!

PS - it'd be great to have this kind of stuff in a FAQ so people trying to get into the sport would find it less intimidating

Craig,
Nice to see youll be racing with the club. I can assure you there will be no lack of assistance for you.Our club is always willing to help.Bob will have to answer your question as to practice days.A rolling kart stand is a must.a basic 1/4 3/8 drive socket set and a good set of allen wrenches. After you borrow a tool 2or 3 times youll realize you need to buy one.

You will need some safety equipment. Helmet, gloves, neck brase, kart suit. I sell open and enclosed trailers. You can send me a pm or call me at (716)430-8960. The only "specialty tools" I have are a bead breaker, chain tool, pressure gauge 0-30psi. The only other tool I could think of would be a torque wrench, if you need to take the engine apart. other than that just basic hand tools. If you forget something or don't have it someone will usualy loan it to you. I know I borrowed a lot of stuff my first season. We are racing sunday hope to see you.

I've got all my own safety stuff, so no worries there.

Good to hear that you will be joining us. All you need to bring to the track is the kart, stand, fuel, a few hand tools. and a plan to have a good time and get a work out. As far as practice I beleive you will learn more running at the back of a real race than driving around all day perfecting bad habits.
