Revisit of Points Eligibility question 4 Years, 11 Months ago Karma: -1
On my drive home from this Sunday's rain-out I got to thinking about Adam's original question regarding why he did not receive last place points as a result of his DNS at the Summer Series opener.

The rules state:

QUOTE:
15.7 - Points Eligibility
At all BKC events, entrant must take the green flag for the Main Event, go through scoring at least once and weigh-in receive points. Entrants must weigh in after each event and it is the driver's responsibility to make certain that scale personnel checks and records weight after event.

In some ways, it would seem more fair that Adam would have received last place points as a result of failing to start for the feature due to a mechanical issue since he payed his entry fee and raced both heats. This is especially true since we are awarding FIRST PLACE points to anyone who pays entry fees for a rained-out event.

Just something I think we should discuss in further detail whenever we have another meeting.

In the meantime, please reply with your constructive feedback on the subject.

Thank you!

you make a good point with your question mike. This was one of the many reasons that me and my son left racing in batavia and have moved onto other tracks. There are alot of things in question like whos at the scale house checking weights after each event nobody just scouts honor what happen to random techs going on opps forgot . Thos is just my view on things you guys can take it anyway you want. We wont race in batavia again so but you make a good point mike!

IMHO Adam should have recieved last place points.
1.If you pay to race you should receive points if two or more fail to make the feature then revert back to the number you drew at the gate for your finishing position.
2 Im not a fan of the everybody gets first place points for a rain out.
If you show for the race and its a rain out apply fees to the following race if you complete one heat and its a rain out award points accordingly if you complete two heats and it rains out award first place points to the pole position for feature and so on,if theres a tie then revert back to the number you drew at gate.
It's to bad you and your son won't be racing at Batavia, with the club in it's infancy theres going to be growing pains everybody in the club has a voice and with that steer the club in the right direction. With the club being as small as it is it's hard to man all the positions you need on race day. I.E scale house and tech, starter and corner workers first. it's a safety thing. The more members and volunteers we have im sure those areas would be covered if you think somebody is light or doing something they shouldnt let the race director know.We have fun at batavia and it's a great place to race. With a little tweeking it will come around.Count me in for the long haul.BTW Rome wasn't built in a day.

you make a good point randy and dave me and my son have been there from the start of the club and everything and what did we get a loss of points due to a rain out and a wrecked kart the folowing week and the answer to this was well its racing. I dont think so in my book! If this rainout rule is in the book then where is it or is it some unwritten rule that everyone goes by. I could see if people were payinf 25 dollars to race ok but at 60 dollars everyweek again I dont think so. Again this is my opion on things there is alot of things going on and rules being made on the fly and its not right. Me and my family volunteered every chance we got and loved doing it but now weve moved on and have taken our volunteering and anything else we did somewhere different. I dont have to pay 60 dollars a week to have fun I only pay 25 so to teach his own i guess. When you are trying to grow from nothing to something you dont take vital pieces and throw them away or treat them like trash. Batavia will run without me and my son and we wish it well.

The point is noted and its a very good topic to visit and discuss. The rules are in place but that does not mean they will never be adjusted. I beleive to have a sucessful organization we must evolve and revisiting the guidelines is just one way to do that.
Jerome, as you well know we have no control over the race day fee's and the amount was approved the the majority which you were a part of. I'm sorry to hear that you have found a "better place" but we are trying to hold it together in some very tough times. Maybe the program is a little lax but (we) are more motivated by having fun and need to address problems as they arise. Unfortunatly if we don't know what the problems is we surely can't fix it. Again this is your organization and anything is possible

Jerome, Sorry to hear you are racing somewhere else, and don't plan on going to BIMP again. Good luck to you and you son. I would like to personally thank you for all the help and work you did for me last year, and all the work you did for the start of the Batavia Kart Club. When any organization loses someone like you it really needs to find out why and try to make things better or at least explain things well. Stop by some time and say Hi.
