Can we start a dialog about the volunteers that will be needed at the track for race days?
- What positions need to be filled?
- What are the responsibilities?
- What is the time commitment?
- If we volunteer for the day will we need to buy a pit pass?
- Can we come for the drivers meeting or do we need to come first thing in the morning?
- If we can arrive for the drivers meeting what time will that be?
- Can we start a schedule and folks can sign up for a position/day?
(I only plan to race once a month so I could come one other week per month and help out if I knew what needed to be done and what my time commitment would be.)
- What about corner workers? We talked a LONG time ago about needing a better understanding of the expectations and maybe have a sign-up during the drivers meeting so that we are not sitting on the grid waiting for workers. I have mentioned in the past that my father usually comes to the track with me and works a corner while I'm racing. Does this fulfill my requirement for corner working or do I need to do more?

Here are a few answers. As a member of the BKC you are expected to make the show run smooth. What does that mean? If a position needs to be filled for a time you are expected to step up and get it done. The BKC is running the race program and all members are the BKC. If you work a full time position like scorer, race director, starter, announcer, the club will pick up the pit pass and pay for lunch but you will not have time to race. Other positions like grid steward, corner worker, scale house etc. are usually handled during the day by members like we did in the past.
You must attend the drivers meeting to race that day. As of now the drivers meting will be at 11am. If you work a position it would be most important to be there well before the drivers meeting.
We realize there are a ton of unanswered questions and it will take some time to get the program to run smoothly. We are still looking for a scorer and I'd like to find an announcer.
We had noticed that quite a few racers would not work corners and the same folks were out there most of the time. This will stop! we will have a corner position sheet at the drivers meeting and everone is urged to be one it.

I will only be racing once a month and would be willing to come another Sunday a month and help, but I could not arrive before 11:00am.
