A hearty group decided to postpone mothers day celebrations and head to Avon where the weather was brisk to say the least. Let me take this time to apologize to the members and to all the moms in my decision to change the race date to the 12th. I thought it would be a good idea to give the fine folks at Avon a chance to get their program in order before we invaded. I never realized it was mothers day and am now paying for it dearly in my humble abode. The day started out going thru tech and I don't think anyone's kart passed. We had to wire stuff that had no place to wire but we comlied and started practice. The group got in a whole three laps before it stared to hail. Did I mention how cold it was. Because of the weather and afornmentioned mother day the turnout was a bit light. I was the only WF heavy driver and we had only one jr driver. Rachel Ries made her racing debut and did a great job her first time out. She started with the big dogs and got lapped but was unshaken. Nice Job Rachel! The racing was typical BKC nose to tail competition as we ran in a tight pack all three heats. Mr Simpson came out on top with Mr Hoyt close behind. Craig and Will had a serious battle with Bill and I not to far behind. The additional weight on my Kart made a big difference, I just need to get used to it.
Next up is Avon next week. I will be out of town and I don"t know if I can make it back in time. Avon is hosting a regional tag race so be prepared for a longer than usual day. I'm just staring to thaw out and now have circulation to my lower extremities.
