DROPPED RACES 4 Years, 8 Months ago Karma: 1
Is the fall season the best five out of six with the rain out counting as the only drop for everybody,or is it going to be the best four out of five and letting the teams use there drop where needed.
thanks R.J

Karts race in the rain. If you decide not to attend a race it is your prerogative to do so, but the race date is still a race date. 5 out of 6, one drop. Whether it be by a miss or or mechanical failure it's a drop.

Hay, they could make you drop the top finish not the worst If there were only two series I would be in favor of the drop 2 ( highest and lowest ) but that's for another time.

Re:DROPPED RACES 4 Years, 8 Months ago Karma: 1
The race im refering too was the 9/28 race.I called BOB T.to tell JIM P we were going to be late and he stated that the race was CANCELLED WITH NO POINTS FOR SHOWING.(I would have went to the track and paid entry for points, since we were on our way to the track anyway WITH OUR RAIN TIRES but since there were no show points or counting as a dropped race i didn't bother).
I'VE NEVER HEARD OF A RACE BEING CANCELLED COUNTING AS A DROPPED RACE
So now that means the fall series has only FIVE RACES ,DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE "CLUB" CANCELLED RACE NUMBER TWO. SO WHAT YOUR SAYING IF ITS THE BEST FIVE OUT OF SIX RACES THERE ARE NO DROPS.?
THANKS R.J

Members,
For the good of the Club and race attendance in general we must make it advantageous to attend all races. Any situation that changes that goal is counterproductive.Randy, you
do have a point that we should discuss as a Club, but the good of the club must be considered first.

DAVE,That day i called @1030 and it was already cancelled, i was on the 90 (bad accident) so we were going to be late.Im always up for a race and we try to paticipate in all club races i.e cherry valley. And you recall willie and jesse were the only two on the track in the rain with rain tires the the other time we cancelled. If jim would have said randy if you show we can put the show on i would have kept driving kinda getting away from the topic.
Again more club participation.P.S I HATE SEEING JESSES KART SITTING WHEN WE COULD BE RACING.

Members,
In retrospect we should have allowed participants to pay for points as in the original plan.I assume Randy would have opted to pay for points if given the opportunity.Perhaps we should still give this opportunity even after the fact.

or we could just amend it and make it best 4 out of 5. I see no reason in paying for points. If we allow people to buy points now you have to let everyone buy them not just the people who showed up at the track and thats not fair.

BINGO !!! AS FAR AS I CAN TELL NOBODY RECEIVED POINTS FOR THAT DAY ANYWAY.

1.MAKE IT THE BEST 5 OUTTA 6 ,COUNT CANCELLED RACE AS DROP.

2.MAKE IT BEST 4 OUTTA 5 ,AND DROP LOWEST FINISH.

3.RACE THE 5 RACES IN THE FALL SERIES WITH NO DROPS.

I GUESS #1 LOOKS LIKE #3

THANK,YOU R.J

I should have said this in the last post.I am not a fan of paying for points but maybe it's a incentive to get people to the track.
We are in a healthy points situation so it doesn't really matter for us what we do for the fall series i just started this thread to see what we wre going to do.
thank you

Maybe if the track charged a minimum for all scheduled races we might not have this problem.

Maybe if the track supplied corner workers, starter, ect, then you could justify that. If that was the case we would have payed and raced those days.

Could be done very easy. But just think how many poeple would pay $150 to race. The workers would need to be paid somehow. Remember one thing, the week you canceled the race you did'nt get points, but The track lost money.

4 corner workers and a starter at $7/h = $35/man hour. so a 6 hour day would cost you $210 why would we need to quadruple our entry cost to cover $210? If we have 16 karts show up thats 4 per class you would only have to increase fees $13.14 per driver. This would free you up to open the snack bar and make some money. You know the green stuff with pictures and numbers on it. To make money one must spend money, make wise investments that will grow there business and make people want to come and spend their money. It's not our fault you lost money.

I can tell you know about as much about running a business as you do about tuning a kart (you know that thing you drive around with 4 little tires on it).
I can tell you have no clue what it costs to have an employee, let alone 6 or 7, and can't count corners too well. What is the average kart count for the year ( not 16 more like 7 or 8)As for the snake bar I don't make enough to pay the help now, it's more cost effective to leave it closed. No it's not your fault I lost money, it's mine for letting it happen and trying to be a nice guy, but that will most likly change.

Ohh so when we run a race with 4 corner workers thats not enough? You never said that to us before. I might not be that good at tuning a kart but I have only been doing this for one year. How long have you been running this business and whats your excuse?

Bob I think your a nice guy and you have helped me out with my kart. It must be very difficult for you dealing with a strugling economy and low kart counts this year. This club has worked hard to put a great race program together and promote the track. When you get on a forum and complain about your lost income it insults the people who did drive out for nothing. We also incured expences that we can't recover too. Thats why I fired my $.02 at you and made a suggestion. If my coment came off sounding concieted it was because your coment frustrated me as much as you feel frustrated with your situation. This forum is not the right place for you to whine about your short comings. If you need to discuss your policies it should be done with the club officers or at a club meeting.

Re:DROPPED RACES 4 Years, 8 Months ago Karma: 2
OK so the economy sucked this year. Lets look towards next year and see what we can do to solve these issues. Gas prices are dropping and a new president will be in office soon.

Bob has done a great job of giving us a place to race. We knew going in Sundays were are responsibility!

If anything we let Bob down buy not doing better to get the kart count up. 2009 has potential to be a great year but it takes work and commitment from all of us in the club.

Now Adam, if you have a spare 1/4 million around you could buy the track and see for yourself what it takes to keep it going.
